| Japanese friends
visited our school on Oct.15,2001 |

Japanese friends visited our school and signed a friendly
cooperation agreement with our school. On October 15th, 2001, two Japanese
friends visited our school. They were Katoteixiu, the headmaster of Kato
School in Sizuoka prefecture in Japan and Majiokixiu, the assistant headmaster
of the school. This activity was under the auspices of Inner Mongolian Education
Foundation. Baotou No.1 Middle School and Kato School formed friendship
school. Kato School will cooperate with our school in mutually sending teachers
and students, and in developing academic exchange.The legal representatives
of both schools signed Friendly Exchange Agreement and Memorandum in Baotou
No.1 Middle School. Two schools reached an initial agreement on the work
of next step. Two Japanese friends visited our school's teaching facilities
and the school hisrory showroom , and had a look around the city of Baotou.
They also went to Huang He Bridge to see the Yellow River ---the mother
river of China. |

visited Baotou No.1 Middle School on October 20th, 2001. |

On October 20th, 2001, two Danish women teachers, Kirsten
Tarding and Hanne Frederiksen, came to visit the city of Baotou.They came
from Espergaerde High School in Denmark. During their visit to Baotou, they
visited the King Deer Cashmere Group Company, inspected Baotou's agricultural
production and peasent life, and had a look around the city of Baotou. They
also had a good time in the Liu Qingfeng's (a teacher of our school). On
October 22 to 23, two Danish teachers observed the senior classroom teaching
on geography, physics,mathematics, chemistry, Chinese and English. They
gave PE and geography lessons to our students in senior one on October 23rd
afternoon. Two Danish teachers and our school teachers had a thorough and
careful discussion these days about two countries' education and they exchanged
their views. On October 25th morning, two Danish teachers left Baotou for
Beijing, and then back to Denmark. Two Danish teachers' visit to Baotou
promotes the friendship and cultural exchange between the schools in Denmark
and China. |

| The schools' name
list of taking part in the U.S.-China Teenager Cultural Exchange has
been announced. Baotou No.1 Middle School is honoured to be one of
them. |

According to the notice of China Branch of International
Education And Resource Network(IEARN),Baotou No.1 Middle School has been
approved of being a member unit of IEARN, and become one of the schools
that will attend the U.S.-China Teenager Cultural Exchange.
According to the agreement about U.S.-China non-governmental educational
exchange,which signed by the President of the People's Republic of China
Jiang Zemin and American pre-president Clinton in 1998, a grand cultural
educational exchange ,which was provided funds and held by American government,
U.S.-China Teenager Cultural Exchange Project started formally.
This project was sponsored by the Cultural and Educational Development
Office of American State Council, undertook by IEARN, assisted by Chinese
People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and International
Sister City Commission. In China, there were 76 middle schools altogether
in 23 cities, provinces and autonomous regions applied for participating
in the project.
On August 16, 2001, in new York, America, commission for evaluating Chinese
teenager exchange schools, which was made up of the Cultural and Educational
Development Office of American State Council, the General Headquarters of
IEARN, the China branch of IEARN, Chinese People's Association for Friendship
with Foreign Countries and International Sister City Commission, assessed
strictly all the participatants by 10 criterions. (The criterions were:
open choosing principle, international exchange experience and partner relationship,
variety of region, diversity of race, nationality and religion, the regional
characteristics of the chosen project, the extent of schools' investment
and donation to the project, the support from community, exemplary roles
it will play in the community, long-term plan and electronic communication
apparatus).There were 25 pairs of Chinese and American schools altogether
have been chosen. Baotou No.1 Middle School was the only school that was
chosen in Baotou. Huhhot No.2 Middle School was chosen, too.
Within the next 3 to 5 years, these 25 pairs of schools will develop their
teacher-student mutual visit activities. Directed by IEARN, all of us will
make good use of online resources , develop exchange extensively on Internet,
and prepare the mutual visit staff ( Baotou No.1 Middle School will send
9 students and 2 teachers to carry on the exchange activities with our partner
school in America for about 3 to 4 weeks. Our partner school in America
will pay a return visit to our school with the equal number of students
and teachers). From next year, the teacher-student mutual visit exchange
activities will begin in succession.
The items of Baotou No.1 Middle School during the mutual visit exvhange
are: consolidation and strength of the unity among nationalities, observation
and study of the cause and countermeasures of a sand-storm, reduction and
prevention of violence and youth crime in schools.
The members of China branch of IEARN will be invited to visit Baotou No.1
Middle School in the near future, which symbolizes that the middle school
education of Baotou is on the road to internationalization. It will promote
actively Baotou's education. |

International Tournament between Four Countries (China, America, Japan
and Korea) Successfully Held in Baotou,China. |

America,Japan and Korea and China, four countries teenager
Women's Volleyball Invitational Tournament was successfully held in Bao
Gang Gym and Baotou No.1 Middle School Gym on March 26 to 28, 2001. In May,
2000,Baotou No.1 Middle School Women's Volleyball team were invited by American
Great Lakes Center to take part in the whole American Teenager Women's Volleyball
Match and they took the third place in group over 18 years old. The tournament
was an international teenager volleyball match on a bigger scale this year.
The tournament was a return visit of American Great Lakes Center Women's
Volleyball team to Baotou No.1 Middle School Women's Volleyball. We took
this opportunity to invite other two teenager Women's Volleyball teams,
Japan Kei Shin Middle School Women's Volleyball team and Korea Keun Young
Middle School Women's Volleyball team. In this tournament, American team
won the first prize, China (Baotou No.1 Middle School Women's Volleyball
team) took the second place, Korea took the third place and Japan took the
fourth place. The success of this tournament is sure to promote the exchange
and cooperation between Baotou's teenager sports game and international
teenager sports game. It is also a good chance for Baotou to expand foreign
publicity and show the construction accomplishment. |

Baotou
No.1 Middle School Women's Volleyball team has won three championships in
succession in Inner Mongolian Students' "San Hao Cup" Match since 1993.
In 1994, our school
Volleyball team took the fifth place in the whole Chinese Students "Rejuvenating
China Cup" Match held in Shang Hai.
In 1997,our school Women's
Volleyball team attended the Thirteenth World Youth "Power Cup" Women's
Volleyball Match held in Finland. Our team won the first prize in Group
C.
In 1998, on behalf of
Baotou, our school Women's Volleyball team attended the ninth Inner Mongolian
Students' Sports Meet Volleyball Match and won the first prize.
In 1999, on behalf of
Inner Mongolia, our team attended the seventh National Students' Sports
Meet and took the eighth place.
In May, 2000, at the
American Great Lakes Center's invitation, our school Women's Volleyball
team attended the whole AmericanTeenager Women's Volleyball Match held in
Chicago. They won the third prize.
In August, 2001, our
school Women's Volleyball team took the fourth place in the National Volleyball
Teenager Women's Volleyball Match held in Cheng Du.
In Match, 2001, our
school Women's Volleyball team won the second prize in the International
Women's Volleyball Invitational Tournament between four countries (China,
America, Japan and Korea) held in Baotou. |
